I used to study my Bible using a color code system and I think I'll probably go back to that and maybe add some more ideas to it. Basically I would underline and write with different colored micron pens. Green would be for growth, commands, or examples of godly living. Brown was for sin and examples of ungodly living. Purple was for precious promises. Red was for prophecies concerning Jesus the coming Messiah. Blue was for God and His character and acts and things He said. Yellow was for highlighting words or phrases that repeated in a particular book or chapter of the Bible.
